So - If you love Shamrock shakes - I wanted to make sure you didn't miss this! I did a video recipe last week on FB for a delish smoothie hack of the very unhealthy McDonald's favorite. It's so GOOD!
So WHAT’S IN A McDonald's SHAMROCK SHAKE?
1) VANILLA REDUCED FAT ICE CREAM
Milk, sugar, cream, nonfat milk solids, corn syrup solids, mono- and diglycerides, guar gum, dextrose, sodium citrate, artificial vanilla flavor, sodium phosphate, carrageenan, disodium phosphate, cellulose gum, vitamin A palmitate.
2) SHAMROCK SHAKE SYRUP
High fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, water, sugar, natural flavor (plant source), xanthan gum, citric acid, sodium benzoate (preservative), yellow 5, blue 1.
Yikes! There are many other ingredients but I thought that was plenty to show you that a different recipe can be much better for you and still taste amazing.
Here's my recipe. 🙂
Shamrock Shake Recipe Hack
Prep time: 4 min • Yield: 2 servings
1 Cup filtered water
1/2 c. ice, pure & filtered
6 fl oz. coconut milk, unsweetened, full-fat, organic, canned
1 tbs. honey, raw, unfiltered, organic
1 tbs. vanilla extract, organic
1 tsp. peppermint extract, organic or I used 2 drop peppermint essential oil
1/2 small. banana
1/2 med. avocado
Mix in blender and enjoy!
Add-ins: To add even more nutrients add any of the following:
- 1 tbsp Chia seeds add fiber and protein
- Greens such as spinach, kale, chard, parsley, etc. add vitamins, minerals, and fiber
