New Recipe and 9 Ways to Cut Sugar :-)

It’s no surprise to most that sugar is really not that good for you. Those who have done it, know how great they feel when they limit sugar.

Natural sources like that from fruit, honey, and maple syrup aren’t as bad as processed sugars and high fructose corn syrup.

However, processed sugars cause glycation and free radical damage to your cells and therefore cause accelerated aging of your skin, joints, and organs.
So, cutting the bad sugar out of your diet is very worthwhile.

Here are 9 Easy ways to help! 🙂

How To Cut the Bad Sugar Out Of Your Diet

1. Avoid Buying Processed Foods
Practically everything you buy that comes in a box, bag, or can has added sugars. Things like ketchup, BBQ sauce, cereal, bread and many others all have added sugars. Stick to wholesome, clean, natural foods like lean protein, healthy fats, fruits and veggies.

2. Cut Out Soda
Trade soda for water with lime or lemon or berries in it.

3. Eat Real fruit instead of fruit juice or processed fruit.
Avoid fruit juice and fruit roll ups that don't have of fiber. Choose low sugar options like berries, grapefruit, lemon, and limes.

4. Avoid Fruit Yogurt
Many commercial yogurts have just as much sugar as candy bars. Yikes! Choose full fat unsweetened greek yogurt instead and add fresh fruit.

5. Avoid Store bought salad dressing
One of the most common places sugar will hide is in your store-bought salad dressings and other condiments. Instead oils like extra virgin olive oil, walnut oil, macadamia oil, and avocado oil and add Balsamic or apple cider vinegar or lemon. Delicious and so easy!

6. Don’t Keep Sugary Treats In The House
If I have sweets in the house - I will eat them.
And the same goes for most people - if you don't have it in the house you'll be less likely to eat it.

7. Try Stevia
An acceptable substitutes for sugar. But don’t overdo it! I only use it 1-2 times per week.

8. Avoid Mixed Alcoholic Drinks
These are usually made with sugary simple syrups. If you have a drink - choose wine, or mix alcohol with soda water.

9. Enjoy Dark Chocolate
Just be sure it's 85% cacao content for low sugar and high anti-oxidant potency. My favorite!

Last but not least - one of my favorite quick and easy treats (other than dark chocolate) to satisfy a sugar craving is Berries and Whipped Coconut Cream. Enjoy!

Berries and Cream

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup berries of choice or mixed berries of your choice - I used strawberries here.
1 can full fat unsweetened coconut milk
Mint leaves for garnish
INSTRUCTIONS:
1.Place the can of coconut milk in the fridge for at least 4 hours.
2. Gently open the can, and scoop the heavy cream that has risen to the top into a container. You’ll only need a tablespoon at a time of this, so store it covered in the fridge.
3. Wash your berries and serve with a tablespoon of coconut cream. I like the mild sweetness of the cream on it’s own, but you can mix in a 1/4 teaspoon of honey or maple syrup or 3 drops of stevia extract if you like it a little sweeter.

Hint:You can use the coconut water that’s left over for smoothies. 🙂
